Chinchón – charming town close to Madrid

This is one of my favourite places close to Madrid. It’s a charming town, quite different to the ones I’ve seen to-date.
Its bright buildings are located on a hill, surrounding a medieval square. It’s worthwhile coming to appreciate its architecture and to have lunch on one of the balconies of the restaurants in Plaza Mayor.

The medieval castle located close by is, sadly, closed, but it’s still worthwhile taking a walk and admiring the views.

After seeing the typical tourist attractions around Madrid, like Toledo or Segovia, this small, quiet town was exactly what I was looking for. I liked it very much and it’s a great place for an easy day-trip from Madrid.
