Aranjuez – tranquility in the shadow of a great city

AranjuezWhen you need to escape for the big city. When you feel like going for a peaceful walk. An afternoon away from the hustle and bustle of the crowd. Quietly strolling through a park…

In these cases the choice is easy – you hop on to the Cercanías train at the Atocha station and shortly after get out in Aranjuez. Here, you’ll find beautiful parks and palace which was once the Royal Family’s summer residence.

You can visit the Palacio Real de Aranjuez for free on Wednesday and Thursday afternoons (applies to EU citizens – for details look here).

The Palace is close to the train station and getting there is absolutely no problem. If you want to visit the small Casa del Labrador Palace in the Jardin del Principe, you’ll need to take a slightly longer walk through a quite substantial park, and you’ll have to arrive there punctually, as per the time indicated on your ticket.

Now some photos, all of which were taken in November and December.
